Arkansas Insurance Commissioner Mike Pickens announced the disbursement of $.8 million to certified fire departments in Arkansas. The funds are distributed pursuant to Act 1326 and Act1583 of 2003. More than 900 fire departments will share in the funds.
“We are happy to be able to offer this assistance, particularly to rural and small volunteer fire departments,” Commissioner Pickens said. “We believe these funds will help them in their valiant efforts to save lives and property.”
The funds will be distributed from the Insurance Department’s Trust Fund to the Arkansas Rural Risk Underwriters Association, which will forward the monies to the certified fire departments.
The funds will be used by the fire departments for training, equipment, and general operating expenses.
