Texas-based American Underwriting Managers announced that Phyllis K. Barnes has joined the company as marketing director.
Barnes has more than 10 years of experience in the surplus lines field. She was previously associated with several insurance wholesalers and retailers in the Dallas area.
An Accredited Customer Service Representative, Barnes has also done background studies toward the CIC, CPCU and ARM designations. She is a member of the Federation of Insurance Women of Texas.
In a separate announcement, Kenneth R. Boyd, president of AUM, noted that the firm has been granted a property underwriting facility at Lloyd’s of London.
“The new property underwriting facility provides in-house authority to $5 million,” Boyd explained. “It will add greatly to our existing underwriting facilities and will enable us to better serve our independent agents.”
