Louisiana Department of Insurance Fraud Unit investigators served a Monroe, La.-area insurance producer (agent) with a Cease and Desist order and summary suspension of his insurance license, prohibiting him from conducting any kind of insurance business in Louisiana, Insurance Commissioner J. Robert Wooley announced.
The C&D order states Christopher Teasdel Custer allegedly forged some 326 insurance applications and other documents for the purpose of collecting commissions on bogus insurance transactions. The order further states that he received more than $73,000 in advance commissions and bonuses for that bogus business.
Department of Insurance records show that Custer held a life and health insurance license from March 27, 2002, until the current suspension. Those records also show his business address as 1868 Forsythe Ave., Ste. 129, Monroe, and his residence as 204 Highway 879, Oak Grove.
“If you have questions about this or any other insurance-related matter, contact us at our toll-free number, 1-800-259-5300, or at 225-342-5900,” Commissioner Wooley said. Upon request, communication with the Department of Insurance Fraud Unit about suspected fraudulent insurance activity may be kept confidential.
