The Republic Group (Republic), based in Dallas, announced the appointment of Ron Lawson as director, Product Development and Marketing of insurance operations. In this newly created position, Lawson will assist in the development of Republic’s stable of insurance products to accommodate the needs of agents and policyholders.
Lawson began his insurance career with Safeco Insurance Company in Atlanta in 1986. During his eighteen years at Safeco, he held increasingly senior positions, until being named assistant vice president of Marketing for its Dallas region. He later joined Cypress Texas Lloyds, a monoline personal property insurer, as its director of Sales.
Lawson serves on the Board of Governors of the Texas FAIR Plan Association and is a past director of the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association.
“Ron’s professional background and involvement with the FAIR Plan and TWIA give him special insight into the complexity of the Texas insurance market”, said Robert S. Howey, Republic’s chief marketing officer. “He will be able to leverage his knowledge of the marketplace to help Republic build a product array that accommodates the special needs of our agents.”
Founded in 1903, The Republic Group is comprised of eight insurance companies, which provide personal property and auto insurance in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and New Mexico, and commercial insurance in Texas and Oklahoma through a network of approximately 700 independent agents and professionally managed, specialty programs. Republic Underwriters Insurance Company is the group’s lead company.
