La. Governor Appoints Inspector General to Combat Fraud, Mismanagement

Louisiana Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco announced the appointment of Sharon Buchanan Robinson as the new State Inspector General to lead the office in the prevention of waste, mismanagement, abuse, fraud and corruption in the executive branch of state government. The Office of Inspector General conducts investigations without regard to partisan politics, allegiances, status or influence.

Robinson, who has a Certified Public Accountant license, has worked in state government for nearly 30 years.

“Sharon brings a wealth of knowledge of state government and its programs,” said Governor Blanco. “She has sterling reputation, a history of independence and extensive experience in both investigative and performance audits. I know she will be an outstanding State Inspector General.”

Robinson leaves the Office of the Legislative Auditor where she has worked in various roles since 1989. Most recently, she served as an assistant legislative auditor and director of advisory services. In that role, her duties included providing advisory services to state and local governments, local government audits, and tax review services. Prior to her service at the Office of the Legislative Auditor, Robinson held positions in the Division of Administration, the Office of State Buildings and Grounds and the Department of Revenue and Taxation, respectively.
