Higginbotham & Associates, a privately held insurance brokerage firm based in Fort Worth, Texas, named commercial property and casualty broker Scott Fitzgerald as vice president to reflect his increased 2004 sales volume. Fitzgerald also transitioned to Higginbotham’s Energy Division, joining brokers Phillip Luebbehusen and Robert L. Carson in January 2005.
Fitzgerald joined Higginbotham in 2002 after five years experience in the energy industry and one year at Liberty Mutual. A Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Fitzgerald is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Texas Wesleyan University. He has completed The University of Texas Petroleum Extension Service Drilling School and Leadership Fort Worth Institute. In addition, Fitzgerald is a member of the Fort Worth Wildcatters, an oil and gas association.
The Energy Division was established in 2000 when Luebbehusen merged his private oil and gas insurance agency with Higginbotham. Its principals have a cumulative 90 years experience placing coverage and managing claims for oil and gas operators, drilling and well service contractors, manufacturers and suppliers to the energy industry. Between them, they have been involved in 350 blowouts with more than $350 million in claims paid and have designed coverages that are now considered standard in the field.
