A week after Hurricane Emily made landfall in northern Mexico many of those in South Texas who suffered damage from the storm are now settling insurance claims and making repairs. Once a settlement is reached, insurance companies have five business days to mail consumers a check, according to the Texas Department of Insurance.
Consumers who have not received prompt payment are advised to call their agent. Those with unanswered questions about their claim may contact the Consumer Protection Division at the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) for help.
