On Sept. 1, 2005, the Texas Workers’ Compensation Commission is abolished and the Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) begins at the Texas Department of Insurance. This transition is the result of House Bill 7, a major reform bill passed by the 79th Texas Legislature.
TDI reported that addresses and telephone numbers for the DWC Central Office and Field Offices will remain the same as the prior TWCC numbers.
The DWC Central Office is located at: 7551 Metro Center Drive, Ste. 100, Austin, TX 78744-1609. The main phone number for the Central Office is (512) 804-4000.
Injured workers requesting information on a workers’ compensation claims should continue to use the toll-free (800) 252-7031. This number is routed to the nearest field office for assistance.
Addresses and phone numbers for field offices may be found on the Division Web site at www.twcc.state.tx.us/twcccontacts.html – offices.
After Sept. 1, the Division Web site will change to www.tdi.state.tx.us. A prominent link on the TDI homepage will direct users to the new Division Web site.
Additionally, the Division will publish the new Web addresses for each of its Web links as soon as they are determined. During the transition, those using the former URL will be redirected to the new Division Web site for a transitional period of time to ensure that service is uninterrupted.
TDI is continually updating information about the workers’ compensation system transition on its Web site.
