No Doubt! What kind of person would do this? There is no excuse other than greed & selfishness that would cause someone to take advantage of those who actually need the funds that were made available. So many people desperately needed to relocate after Kartina, especially since they could not count on their City or State Leaders. New Orleans was a total wash & so many lost everything they own that it is really sad to think that someone would make a false claim, much less, two of them. I think he deserves to be fined for his wrongdoing & that Justice will prevail.

Most people with criminal thoughts are pretty stupid. There are so many steps in a claim that it is surprising that anyone ever gets away with it.
My favorite was a woman who had several homeowner losses. After she was non-renewed our tough risk unit did the insurance. In a few months she had a kitchen fire. The independed adjuster went out and his report said, \”been here, done it already\”. She actually filed a complaint with Tx Dept of Ins. My understanding is that the TDP investigator explained that she\’s better off to stay quiet rather than be prosecuted.

Even attempted robbery merits some jail time, and effectively that\’s what filing a false claim is. If the TDI fails to prosecute that woman then it has failed it\’s duty to the honest citizens under its jurisdiction; as for the bright light in Houston, he should get some time to cool his heels and think about the selfishness and stupidity of his actions.

This guy should have mandatory community serivce helping to rebuild New Orleans while in an orange jumpsuit and leg irons with an armed guard standing over him.

Then, he might have to explain what he did to the REAL vicitms.

Chain gangs were a much more effective deterrent than the country clubs they call jails, nowadays.

When FEMA and/or the Red Cross began giving away \”no-strings\” debit cards for $2,000, many \”disadvantaged\” residents of Houston jumped on the opportunity for FREE cash with little or no checks on qualifications and rushed down to get the FREE $2,000. Fortunately, FEMA/Red Cross realized their error of this \”assistance program\” and stopped it in one day.

WE\’RE BACK TO THE OLD ADDAGE:

GIVE A MAN A FISH, AND YOU FEED HIM FOR A DAY; TEACH HIM HOW TO FISH AND YOU\’LL FEED HIM FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE.

WHY CAN\’T THE GOV\’T HELP PEOPLE IN A REAL SENSIBLE MANNER, SO THEY CAN BECOME SELF RELIANT AND PRODUCTIVE CITIZENS?

you understand my point. where has all of the common sense of our elected officials gone to?? why do we keep electing these baffoons?? i\’m not just talking about one party here either. the politicians keep the poor, the uneducated, and a whole lot of others \”down\”, due to the various gov\’t doles and their complete and total reliance upon the gov\’t for all of their needs. then, various community activists further perpetuate this mentality. this is how power is gained and maintained. it\’s the old golden rule – them that got it, make the rules…. maybe in a perfect world…….

Probably the best thing the government (local, state and federal) did was to show that depending on \”them\” to help you is not the way to go. Hopefuly the majority picked up on that – especially the poor. \”They\” didn\’t help when the going got tough and the emergency plan written long before the storm (read it) said they wouldn\’t.
The earth quake emergency plan for San Francisco – \”The Big One\” – says there will likely be no police service for four days…..and San Francisco just voted to ban firearms in the city.
A plan for free-for-all for criminals has been laid.
