Pine Bluff, Ark.’s new fire chief is fed up with arsons at abandoned homes in his city – so much so he’s reaching into his own wallet to try and stop the blazes.
Don Horton said he will offer a reward of up to $500 of his own salary to those providing information leading to the arrest of whoever is setting the fires. Fire officials say they’ve fought more than 100 arson fires last year alone.
Horton and others are partnering to form a Metropolitan Arson Task Force. Dallas Fire Chief Eddie Burns said he will let some of his firefighters attend an “area summit” on the blazes.
