I see these updates from TDI regularly – where the title could lead one to believe that the Texas Dept of Ins just approved 10 “NEW” companies to self insure for workers’ comp. In fact, when you look closer at the text – it’s simply an annual RENEWAL of existing self insured employers. The fact is, based on the size of Texas, it has one of the lowest populations of self insured employers for workers’ comp insurance in the country. The way this article title reads, one may be lead to believe that TDI is trying to overstate what’s taking place in Texas with regard to self insured employers – it’s a little annoying.

    thanks

I was trying to be nice – doesn’t get you too far these days.

TDI seems to want to make their work comp numbers more meaningful and substantial than they really are……IF it is a deliberate attempt on their part, one could assume it may be in light of the fact Texas is the only state in the country which allows its employers to opt out of the work comp system (on a large scale)….every year more and more employers realize there is a better option available outside of work comp.

What annoys me is that articles can be written and news can be reported in such a misrepresentative manner (sometimes fraudulent) and very few seem to care anymore –

By the way – Life is not good – it’s great!

What’s your story “Bubbles” – do you have a dog in this hunt?
