Karen Farris, CEO of Dallas-based insurance broker Roach Howard Smith & Barton (RHSB), has been recognized by the Dallas Business Journal as one of the Top 25 Changemakers in the DFW Metroplex. She also was recently awarded the Kim Dawson Attitude Award for her role in encouraging female leadership.
Farris joined RHSB in 1982 as vice president of marketing and soon after founded the firm’s Technology Practice.
In addition to being the first female shareholder and CEO of RHSB, which under her lead the insurance brokerage firm has tripled in size with a current client base exceeding 7,000, Farris was the first female member of the Park Cities Rotary and the first female president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas.
Additionally, Farris was the first female chairperson of Assurex Global, the largest private brokerage network in the world with over 20,000 insurance professionals in 558 offices on six continents.
Farris was also selected for the Changemaker’s award because of her numerous charitable work and contributions with charitable organizations such as Meals on Wheels, Angel Tree and Texas Scottish Rite Hospital.
