You can already wear one on your waist. This just means you don’t have to cover it up. Are you saying a cop is more comfortable if he doesn’t know it is there? Not a logical thought. Besides, more than half the states in the union have open carry and they don’t have problems with whiny cops.

I would be more concerned if the government takes all the guns from citizens. The crooks would have a field day robbing and murdering people since the folks are defenseless. Crooks will always be able to find guns to commit crimes. There is less crime when they know the folks can defend themselves.

TOPOV, You really need to take a pill and go to bed. Your Progressive brain isn’t operating too well and you ignore the facts. In cities with the strictest gun laws, they have more violent crime by guns than cities that have open carry or less restrictive laws. NYC is a prime example and Washington DC runs them a close second. Law abiding citizens who go through the training to carry are not the ones committing the crimes. Thugs are the ones who do the deeds. Whenever their is a shooting, it is by the unlicensed bad guys, not the law abiders doing it. People that get shot are the ones who could not defend themselves. In family violence situations, the majority of the gun deaths are from unregistered guns and the perp is mentally unbalanced. Should all the rest of the citizens be disarmed because some Progressive fool thinks that is the way to go to prevent gun deaths. In every country that has banned guns, the result is that the government has slaughtered millions. The best examples are Russia under Stalin and China under Mao Tse Tung. The American People are not going to allow themselves to be disarmed so get over it.

Try reading some true history, please. Have you not studied at all with what happened in the Soviet Union, China, Cambodia after the tyrants disarmed the people. I believe the total killed has topped 100 million executed by Stalin, Mao and the Cambodian Communists. In more modern times, Castro consolidated his power by killing his opposition and Chavez has done the same thing in Venezuela. I know this may be too hard for you to grasp.

TOPOV: You are trying to link “gun deaths” to crime rates and it just doesn’t wash. If I kill the burglar in my house…that’s a gun death, but is it a crime? If a police officer kills a suspect pointing a gun at him… that’s a gun death, not a crime…

Chicago had an outright ban on firearms prior to losing a lawsuit in the Supreme Court for blatant violation of the second amendment. So if your theory is correct they should have had almost no crime involving guns during the ban, right?

TOPOv, You have a fixation on Japan. Most people know Japan is a bit different from most other nations and by the way, they were disarmed after they surrendered in WW11. They were dependent on America to defend them and we rebuilt them thanks to McArthur. Don’t believe the bunk about Israel. They are armed to the gill and are threatened with annihilation from their neighbors every day. They have compulsory military duty and technically every Israeli is a soldier. Your theory about them is totally false. They have to kick the Arabs butt every so often to keep from being overrun.

“Do you really think that criminals think rationally that they should think twice about committing a crime because the victim might be armed?”

Yes, OPOV, I most certainly do. When was the last time a vehicle was carjacked in the state of TX? You are so good at providing statistics, please look that one up for us. You might look up the crime rate in TX as well.

“Do you really think that criminals think rationally that they should think twice about committing a crime because the victim might be armed?”
Yes, Yes I do. Not, of course, the rapist or muders, they are going to do what they do regardless if they have to use a base ball bat or a gun. The petty thefts do go down thought, a purse snatch will think twice…
“The more guns are available, the more gun deaths there will be. Period.” That is an ignorant statement. Guns are available right now, illegally. The people that society thinks shouldn’t have them, or are not safe with them already have them.

It will be optional.. your choice Open or concealed or somewhere in between. Best part of ‘Open Carry’ is you don’t have to worry about accidently showing your weapon or ‘printing’.

A gun in the hand is worth two cops on the way. This nonsense about a “return to the lawless days of yesteryear” is the product of a uninformed mind. This population long ago returned to the lawless days of yesteryear and we don’t have time to wait for help when it takes thirty minutes to get to the scene of the crime. I’m conceal and carry by permit. What difference does it make if you can see my weapon? At least I’ll be legal!

43 states already have some form of open carry… and none of those states have experienced any problems related to it. The same people who have been carring concealed in Oklahoma for 17 yrs without a problem will be the ones who can elect to open carry if they so desire.. it isn’t mandatory. The only difference between a concealed carry weapon & a weapon that is openly carried is the removing a thin shirt or vest from covering the weapon so that it isn’t hidden from view. The weapon is still carried in the same location on the body as before. Just because the weapon is now visible to the public.. it isn’t going to turn the weapon’s owner into a crazed killer or make them more careless in handling it. In fact it may be safer unconcealed as the new law requires a retention device to secure the weapon in the holster.. whereas the concealed carry holsters do not.

If passed, the ‘concealed carry permit’ will become a ‘carry permit’.. and a person will have the option of carrying concealed or unconcealed whenever they wish… or both at the same time. Some people may choose to carry their main defensive weapon such as a .38 spl, .40 cal or .45 in a belt holster…. and then have a small mouse gun [like a .380 Kel-Tec P3AT or Ruger LCP] in a pocket as a back-up. Which isn’t a strange thing to do… as many police officer do just that.

I am ready to strap on my Beretta 96D (.40 S&W – no wimpy 9mm for me) just as soon as I obtain my permit. Only law-abiding citizens obey carry bans – criminals obviously don’t. With law-abiding citizens armed, criminals will have something else to think about.

You little gun haters to need to get over it we have a right to bear arms and if you don’t like it go somewhere else and quit whining about it. There is nothing wrong with carrying a gun we have a right to protect ourselves against people who are worthless pieces of crap and murder and rob people every day!! Open carry will slow that way down! So pretty much you big babies are more for thieves and murderers than the right to protect yourself. Maybe you will get robbed and just maybe that will change your mind about this whole thing. until then shut up and leave our rights alone.

I have seen articles that Obama intends to go after the guns if he is re-elected. Progressives just can’t stand the idea of people being able to defend themselves against crooks. They also want to consolidate their power since an unarmed populace will not be able to resist their tyranny.

I see where Penetta is now afraid of his own troops in Afghanistan and had them disarmed prior to hearing him speak. Talk about paranoid. I wonder if these troops will get their absentee ballot this year for the Presidential Election. They didn’t get them for the mid terms. I think I know how they will vote if given the opportunity.

People seem to forget that up until 1971 any adult [non-felon] could open carry in Oklahoma.. and we didn’t have any gun fights in the streets & bars… nor the lawlessness that the Nay Sayers are always peeing themselves with worry about. Today, ‘Open Carry’ will be much more strictly regulated than it was then and the people carrying weapons [concealed or openly] will have at least had a firearms familiarity course of sorts and a class on applicable laws and given examples of situations in which they can use their weapons. “Open Carry wasn’t a ‘lawlessness’ issue when it was ended in 1971 and it won’t be in 2012 either. In ’71 it was a “Political Correctness” issue that stopped open carry.. not a “danger to the public” issue.
