Why bother shipping everything IN a container? Why not just USE a reefer container for living space. Wouldn’t be the first time these boxes would have been put to use for emergency housing. And at a cost far less than $100k per. Add solar cells on the roof, run wires, cut windows and doors and you’re set.
And think of how much better port areas would be without the mountains of underused, obsolete containers.
There is already a company marketing a cabin that is totally self-sufficient and requires no infrastructure whatsoever. All utilities are built in, i.e., electric, a water purification system and a toilet that reduces organic material to sanitized ash. It’s portable via trailer truck or rail, takes just 3-4 hours to set up and sells for about $70K. Check it out at http://www.TheWildernessCabin.com.
Absolutely. It cannot hurt to be pepearrd for a worst case scenario. At the very minimum we should all prepare for potential 72 hour crisis like power/utility outage, natural disaster, getting stranded in your vehicle, etc. Job loss is a very real possibility in this economy as well. It is foolish not to at least put together 72 hour kits and vehicle kits at a minimum.I am not familiar with the kits you refer to, but I will check them out! Thanks for the heads up!

How about using the shipping container could be part of the structure that is shipped inside it.
I WISH THERE WERE A PHOTO
