It sounds like the good people of Arkansas elected the wrong guy. He is an Insurance Agent and owns a Pizza Company?? He must be having some big issues privately. I wonder what he is doing in a $275,000 home if he can’t make the monthly payments. He didn’t know how far behind he was???? Hello! Typical politician who doesn’t know about the value of money.

Perhaps he felt “Entitled” to a free mortgage after he got on the public dole. Perhaps he saw the deal his President got on his Chicago home and thought he could get his mortgage company to forgive the loan. Had he contacted Chris Dodd, he would have been given advice on how to get a sweetheart deal.

True, true–Republicans do feel entitled to many things.

It’s quite courageous of you to freely and openly admit that!

It’s a good thing I’m too nice a person to make a joke about Texans and reading skills. :)

      The Lt. Gov’s a Republican.

I’m even resisting the urge to correct your grammar!

      Do I win a prize?

      :)

Dear Texas and Agent. Your lack of reading skills and ability to do simple research is overflowing. Go to Mr. Darr’s own website. It’s easy enough to find on Google. Also, take the time to read the last paragraph of the story. He wants to be a counterweight to the Democrat Governor. So to keep this simple for you two nincompoops, he is a REPUBLICAN.

    Enough said…

What a counter weight! He should not be an elected official in any capacity since he has influence on how money is spent in this state. I don’t care what party he belongs to. How can anyone make a statement that he didn’t know he was behind? That is kind of like his hero Slick Willy not admitting to having an intern under his desk.

Why would a republican have a democrat as a hero?

You’re making less and less sense as you go along.

Though I agree he shouldn’t be an elected official if he can’t manage his own finances…

Haven’t you heard of RINO’s? These are the people that compromise their Conservative principles to “reach across the aisle” to sign onto liberal legislation which is why we have a real debt issue in this country. Arkansas is a wierd state with a mixture of yellow dog Democrats who blindly pull the Democratic lever every time no matter who the candidate is and some Conservatives which almost always results in abysmal results. No wonder they are one of the poorest states in the Union. I did have a chuckle when the guy from Tennessee registered to run in the Democratic primary agains Obama and managed to win almost 40% of the vote.

Did you forget about the whole “counterweight” to the democratic governer part again?

And frankly, what we need is more cooperation in government, and less about b-s partisanship.

Government is about (ideally) doing what’s best for the entire population as a whole, not just forwarding your own political ideation.

If we had a Congress full of moderates (both left and right leaning) we’d get a lot more done, and probably be in a much better fiscal place.

Jon, Have you ever seen a Progressive liberal Democrat compromise their position and give in to a Conservative solution to our problems? The reason why we have a $16 Trillion debt in this country and a huge mess is Progressive liberal policy and RINO’s who go along to get along. Moderates fit into that category which is why we are borrowing $.40 of every dollar spent from China and run an annual $1.6 Trillion debt which shows no signs of abating. If we had a Congress full of Conservatives, we would get a lot more done, cut spending of all the huge government programs and restore the fiscal house. It will never happen with moderates who lean left I assure you. We need jobs in this country and real leadership in government.

            Agent,

We’ve had plenty of conservative governments who promise to cut spending and create jobs based on their tax cuts to the wealthy, and guess what.

No new jobs were created. Why? Because people who become rich tend to want to accumulate wealth, not distribute it.

Sorry, but you can’t sell me that line of crap. I’m not a die hard liberal, but the ultra-conservative line of BS is just as much of a joke to the working class as the tree-hugging ultra liberals are.

Jon, have you ever gotten a job from a poor man? You are full of it saying that the wealthy have not created jobs or expanded due to favorable tax treatment. By the way, there are thousands of businesses out there who would love to expand or hire, but they are extremely apprehensive about what the government will do to them next. It has been proven over and over in history that if a government is responsible on fiscal policy and keeps taxes down, it spurs tremendous economic growth. You say you are not a die hard liberal, but you sure blog like one.

Wow, what a ridiculous straw man! Really, job from a poor man?

The premise being promoted is that the tax relief hits the middle classes, who would then, I don’t know, perhaps be able to spend it? On more than bare subsistence living?

But please, share more hyperbole about your intimate knowledge of the thousands of small business owners lamenting not being able to expand for fear of what the horrible horrible not-engaging-in-two-wars-simultaneously current government may or may not do to them.

Please show me examples of all the plentiful and wonderful jobs the rich have created with their generous tax cuts.

And then you can show me a purple sparkly unicorn, because it’s just as rare.

Jon, you sound suspiciously like part of the OWS crowd. You obviously don’t work for a living and expect the government dole in order to spout off on your Progressive theology. I am a small business man and I insure a lot of them as an agent. They are all singing the blues about this government is doing. If you care to open a history book sometime, you would see that Reagan lowered taxes on business during his term and it created millions of jobs and more revenue to the government because it created jobs and taxpayers. Lower taxes create more revenue, get it?

And then Bush I promised to follow in Reagan’s mold and failed. So the people put their faith in Bush II who also failed. Now Romney says he is the man for the job.

Not for a moment do I believe that the Blues have any better answers then the Reds but unless we are able to discuss, negotiate, compromise and work together civilly I fear for the future.

Way to make snap judgments, sparky. Did they teach you that at the same place you clearly failed reading comprehension?

I’ve been working continuously since I was 13 as a stocker at the local pharmacy. If you count mowing lawns for neighbors to earn money for comic books and movies–that I started doing when I was 10.

I worked my way through high school (where, gasp, the longest I went without a job was 2 months), and paid my own way through college and graduate school.(Often working 2-3 jobs simultaneously.)

          Moron.

I am not a Republican, nor am I a Democrat. I vote based on my research into the candidates at hand. Unlike people who blindly follow their party like lemmings.

Reagan slashed the taxes on the wealthy and raised taxes significantly for those making less than $50k a year, and didn’t raise the minimum wage.

          And the public debt tripled.

Lower taxes for those who spend money = increased revenue. Lower taxes for the wealthy means they just get more wealthy.

          Get it?

Or do I need to use crayon and big block letters?

            Jon,

Unfortunately, the extreme rite now demands absolute adherence to all planks in ye olde platform. Otherwise we get labled as RINO or bastards or whatever moniker they come up with. My GOP party moved way over the line when they invited the Tea Baggers into the tent. When collaboration is considered treason, we got problems.

Moderates and independents need to demand an accounting from their representatives to LEAD, not plant their heads in the sand and tow the line to the party. Didn’t work in the USSR or Nazi Germany and hopefully it won’t work here.

Jon may not have, but I have received many jobs from people less fortunate than me. In fact, every job except for maybe the country club job I had in high school. Just today, many people who do not make as much money as I do bought some insurance from our company. Without them, I wouldn’t have my job.

Welcome back Planet. Where have you been, on vacation? You are extremely lucky if you have received “many” jobs from people less fortunate than you. That puts you in an elite category of about half of one percent of the population who have done that. All of my jobs from youth up until I acquired ownership in my business were from people much better off than I and could afford to pay me a salary and place to work. None of my employees are better off than I am and are thankful I have been successful so they could have a job. By the way, I don’t view Jon as evil, but terribly misguided on how this country works.

Jon, Agent is lost and you won’t often get to a common ground with him because he sees you as evil. Even though I’m sure A) Agent is a nice person and B) So are you. Agent just doesn’t get it, which is why he thinks Romney is going to thump Obama in November. Oh, and he also thought the PPACA was unconstitutional. I’m sure he never went to actually talk to an “occupy” person. People who took it upon themselves to do that here in Des Moines actually discovered a completely different type of person than they were shown on TV. There were even Tea Partiers down there here in DM. And, they were agreeing with some of the issues the DM Occupy movement raised. But, you won’t hear that on Fox News.

No, we likely won’t agree. And after his offensive remarks and attacks, I’m even more likely to discount him.

I’m giving up being nice. I’ll settle for being a good person. It’s a better goal. :)

The Occupy people in Chicago were also not just the crazies shown on the news. But the ultra conservatives will never get that. They don’t want to actually see what’s going on.
