If Property Damage was available under Uninsured Motorist in Oklahoma, it might not cripple the insured drivers when hit by an uninsured/underinsured driver. As it is, you would have to file a claim under your collision coverage and pay the deductible when you were not at fault to being with.

While your point is well taken (here in TX we have UMPD coverage), I could argue that UM coverage should be (not isn’t, but SHOULD BE) completely unnecessary. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if everybody played by the rules and actually carried insurance like they are required to?

At least we have the wonderful concept of subrogation, which at least makes an effort to recover the deductible you have to pay when you file a claim after being hit by one of the deadbeat uninsured drivers. I’ve had three accidents in my life, none at fault, all three with uninsured drivers, and amazingly, I actually got my deductible back once…
