The article neglects to mention that subsidies for health coverage in the form of advance tax credits will be available to financially-strapped young people (and to other consumers) to help with premium payments; it also neglects to mention that for those under 30 years of age, carrying catastrophic-only coverage (which has been improved through the Affordable Care Act to include non-catastrophic visits to physicians) meets the insurance requirement for the law. It also neglects to mention that the Affordable Care Act is private-market-based, and the insurance companies are set to receive some 30 million new customers. And finally it neglects to mention that in the run-up to full implementation of the Affordable Care Act, healthcare stocks are soaring — pull up a chart of two of the largest insurers, UnitedHealthcare and Aetna to see how “burdened” health stocks currently are (hint: not at all).

June, you neglected to say that the Obamacare app is 15 pages long and has up to 21 steps to complete it and premiums are likely to double from what they have been. How many of the brain dead are likely to complete it? Who are the so called “navigators” and who will pay for their services?

So, if you not “financially strapped” it’s OK to pay 3x more than you should to make it available for the elderly at a “fair” rate.

Nothing “fair” about that. Just more liberalist b/s to push us further down the path of their socialist/communist agenda.

Oklahoma is one of the few states that actually have a back bone. They don’t seem to have an illegal alien problem up there either since they have taken steps to root them out and deny them benefits and not rent or lease to them unless they are legal in this country. Many have moved on to friendlier states.

That is a pretty lame criticism of Oklahoma Planet. There are mobile homes everywhere in the US. Oklahoma just happens to be in Tornado alley. Their economy is just fine. How about Iowa being in the top 10 for taxation in the country? I think I would rather be in a state with low taxes and by the way, the Oil & Gas Industry is booming on state and private land. The problem is finding housing for all these new workers, so a lot of the time, mobile homes have to be brought in to house them.

I don’t see any Oklahoma cities in the top 4…or Texas for that matter. In your defense, Dallas and Austin do sneak into the top 10, though. I’ve heard Austin is a great city, I want to get there some day. Maybe for SXSW.

I have used CNN and MSNBC sources, when they were accurately weighed. In particular on a break out on the cost of gas. Fox does not make up facts.

Now you on the other hand…Different story. Did you see my comments showing you were full of it? You ignored ’em pretty well. I guess that’s part of liberal though, label a source so you don’t have to listen to it, label republicans so you don’t have to listen to them, label a state so you don’t have to listen to them, no wait…That’s conservative is it not? Limiting options? Moreover, limiting them based on narrow minded one sided perceptions?

I would be so bold as to call myself “liberal” in concept of my state of mind. I am conservative fiscally, the most important area to be. You are not “liberal” planet.

            http://articles.cnn.com/1998-12-16/politics/1998_12_16_transcripts_clinton_1_saddam-hussein-unscom-iraq-strike?_s=PM:ALLPOLITICS

Straight from the mouth of the horse.

When Clinton’s in office, WMD’s are a threat with Iraq, and peaceful relations with Saddam are not “possible” according to Gore. Something they ran on in 1992.

When Bush W is in office, and he quotes the U.N. Sanctions, and goes to war with Iraq, well, that’s just misleading people and finishing “bush hw’s” work. Or…Finishing Clinton’s perhaps.

When 41% of the cost of gas is from excessive taxing, that means the cost of living for the middle class is up, therefore they need more tax revenues. Therefore the gas and life will cost more. Taxes suffocate the middle class.

Stephen Labaton 2008, trying to spin the regulatory efforts of Bush simultaneously stating Bush wouldn’t accept a deal, and wouldn’t listen to anyone that there was a crises. If there was a crises, and Bush wanted big changes, why would he cut a small time deal? What exactly did this writer expect of Bush? To make a deal that wouldn’t work, or to do the sweeping reform needed? And if he couldn’t make a deal, whose fault was it? Clearly we see that you believe republicans can block reform with a minority (true) and the ones who didn’t want to make a deal on this were democrats. I might add pushing for minority loans and home ownership, IS A PART OF CRA. So Bush did push for CRA changes that were bad. That was his error, not deregulation. Carter and Clinton gave these same speeches, which is why Agent calls him a “liberal” (bush) and why you don’t get what he’s saying:

I don’t want to leave wiggle room. I have never source quoted Fox News. It’s something that Planet regularly used to accuse me of.

I figure it’s time that he see that my sources are so varied, it’s quite crazy.

The NY Times article was hilarious, did you notice they didn’t state anything that Bush W actually deregulated? They stated that his very mindset of encouraging home ownership was the problem. That was the best one by that author. Bush W did pass further CRA regulations put forth by the democrat congress in 2007.

I am quite the adept in politics, so watching such a pawn as Planet try to (mis)lead the people here I just figure why not source quote the hell out of it eh?

I notice he does mock the red states a lot. The one thing you can say about Texans is they are proud of being Texans. And the Texans that think that are not rich. They like their way of life. And Planet wants to say they are bad off and then force them to live a certain way. How in the heck is this liberal? I do believe each state should have their own way of doing things. If he likes Iowa, fine, like Iowa, but he shouldn’t try to prove that “his” state is “better” than another’s state, when the “other” person in that state is “happy”. It seems Planet gets to determine what people want. Again, liberal? What a joke. I’m more of a Reagan republican myself. I bet Captain doesn’t remember his quotes saying he used to be a democrat, until he realized they were just wrong. Reagan had a great heart, a great sympathy for people, a “liberal” mind (in the sense that it was definitely not narrow minded) and was a great man. Planet thinks of us republicans in such a light that I get insanely insulted and it’s another reason I ride the hell out of him.

I’m not a woman hating gay bashing republican. I do however oppose the government defining marriage to include gay marriage, due to what has happened in Canada with lawsuits. Even ONE law suit is one too many. And Planet doesn’t get this. If you define marriage, you inevitably lead to discrimination lawsuits with churches. It is impossible to separate unless you have a state definition for gay marriage, that doesn’t word it in a way that churches engage in the same “word”. They want a “state” marriage do they not? Then why not give them that, rather than co mingle the “church” marriage?

Yet when us republicans have made that point, we are so bigots and are against gay rights. I’m sick of it. I’m for anyone doing what they want, wherein it does not affect anyone else (sound like what a Liberal like planet claims to be much?). Ergo when a fraud comes in saying that, while voting for church dominators, I don’t appreciate it. I also don’t appreciate gay dominators. Little to planet’s knowledge, the bigot.

            Agent,

I guess I can just say from personal experience, compared to Nebraska, we all know it’s cheaper to live in Iowa compared to Nebraska. In fact, just recently, the Govenor of Neb proposed to get rid of state income taxes (it was quickly shot down) and many people stated how they would just move over to Iowa (but continue to work in Nebraska). So, maybe the two compared makes Iowa look better, but in the whole scheme of things, I don’t know where Iowa ranks.

Although, in the last couple of years, Des Moines has been in the top 10 (and usually hovering at the top) for places to live in the US. But I’m not sure what that has to do with taxes.

    http://www.statemaster.com/graph/lif_bes_sta_to_liv-lifestyle-best-states-to-live

Notice TX is 45th on that list – it’s not all about economics. I see where you are #1 in that category. We are #12, not too bad, actually. We slipped once Gov. Brandstad (R) took office. We were 9th under Democratic leadership. Do you have marriage equality? We do. That’s certainly a plus. How’s your crime rate and education stack up?

5.7% unemployment – where is TX at?

Forbes continues to state Des Moines, IA is anywhere from the 1st to the 4th best city for young professionals. How about the health rate? We’re top 20. Not to keep picking on TX, but are you in the top 40 yet?

    Iowa’s 7th here:
    http://money.usnews.com/money/retirement/slideshows/best-us-states-to-live-in-2032/9

Iowa is a pretty good place to live and a great place to raise a family. No matter how you slice it, The Hawkeye State is doing great. I am seriously happy to hear Texas is doing great, economically speaking. I write a lot of business there, I hope that continues.

Texas is right about 6% unemployment and we have about 15 million more citizens to employ than Iowa even with the uncontrolled border that lets hundreds of thousands of illegals in. Tell me, if Texas is as bad as you say, how come businesses from all over the country keep flocking here, especially the Blue States & Taxifornia? How did Texas lead the country in job creation? HMM! By the way, I’m a registered Independent, voted against Bill Clinton, and I voted for Dubya the first time. I try to not make the same mistake twice, though.

        Planet:

To the comment you made about why you are against Obama:

You’re lying about not voting for Clinton. Clinton also wanted a public option. If you wanted one, you would never have voted for Bush W the first time or Bob Dole. You are not an independant, and everything you just posted was far left so you would have no reason to vote for Dole or Bush W. You voted twice for republicans in the last couple presidencies and are switching far left? I’m sorry. That doesn’t happen. I know trends, I know people, that’s an out right lie what you just said. No one, literally no one, who wants a public option votes republican. Ever.

A person with those beliefs would not vote for a right leaner like Bush W. You’re lying.

And your character traits bleed this continued lie.

Accusing someone of lying without proof, no matter who they are, is beyond obnoxious. Unless you were in the voting booth with Captain Planet, you have no proof.

I don’t care what your politics are – just as I don’t care what Captain Planet’s politics are – your attitude is annoying. Almost annoying enough to quit reading the comments on IJ.

How can planet know people here watch too much fox news JW?

And How can I know they are lying?

It’s called trends, plus the information he has given to date:

He is against reagonomics. Dole ran on tax cuts, Bush W ran on, oh wait, tax cuts, reagonomics. He lamblasts reagonomics. The republicans since reagan agree with Reagomics.

Moving to healthcare: Clinton ran on, and attempted, to nationalize health care. He didn’t push too hard. But he went for it. Bob Dole would not have pushed a public option. Planet has even said he wants for the obama plan to fail in order for a public option to be available. Dole and Bush W were plainly against it.

Bush W and Dole were some of the few republicans, which I might add harmed the republican image, who outright said Marriage was defined as a man and a woman. “sanctity” of marriage, a ringin’ a bell JW? It’s a Bush W phrase.

The degree of which Planet mocks republicans, mocks Reagan, and mocks reagonomics, while stating that we surpress women and gays, makes voting for Dole and Bush W impossible. Bush W and Bob dole ran on making partial birth abortions illegal, and removing public funding of abortion. Clinton, one of the first laws he passed was regarding public funding of healthcare.

Planet might be dumb, but he knows this. He NEVER would have voted for those two guys. Ever. He’s lying for credibility. I know this for certain.

Moving on: People are entitled to their own opinions, not facts, while insulting the people (republicans) in this forum and labeling. I’m a jerk to those types of people.

And also to people who act in any way, like you just did. To state I have “no” proof, is out right idiotic. Planet gives it every day.

That’s not proof. That’s assumption. Maybe you can say it’s circumstantial evidence. It’s still not proof.

I’ve voted conservative as many times as I’ve voted liberal. However, just by reading my comments, there is no way you could KNOW for which candidate I voted. I’ll give you a hint: I never voted for Obama. Not once. Yet, many people lump me with the liberals and ASSUME I voted for Obama.

You may think you’re all that and a bag of chips, but you’re still making assumptions.

And by the way, I haven’t commented on CP saying you watch too much fox news because I haven’t caught him calling you a liar. You called him a liar and you cannot definitively prove your statement. Therefore, I called you out on that and only that. You can say you don’t believe him, but you cannot say he is lying.

            JW:

It is not circumstantial evidence. What is circumstantial about his beliefs?

He agrees with public option, he is very pro gay rights, and has even brought up the type of republicans like Bush W who have insulted gay marriage. Bush W said the sanctity of marriage comment before elected.

He is not conservative on even one issue.

You on the other hand, yes actually, I could tell from your comments. You never make a comment as strongly as planet, you even say “correct me if I’m wrong”. You don’t lamblast republicans, you lamblast concepts and ideals. I don’t have an issue with you.

As for calling him a liar: Planet uses the “i voted for Bush W” phrase to say he’s not biased.

He has not listed any republican sources, only liberal ones, he has not listed one republican ideal he agrees with, and has repeatedly showed he has had an issue with the republican party that is at least 10 years in the making.

It is simply not possible that he voted for Bush W or Dole. You are what you convey. If he conveyed ANY republican ideals I would see it. He has not.

            You have.

I don’t think I’m all that and a bag of chips. I demand, in any debate, for pieces of information to be strictly facts. Planet does not do this. Your last post slipped a little in stating there was no “proof” (which was wrong)

I don’t care about or think I am all that. You would know that if you were in my life. Which you aren’t.

When it comes to politics, I know my stuff. As I have source quoted more sources from liberal and conservative than anyone here (not a debatable fact).

In fact, I make a point of using liberal sources more often than conservative, I make a point of showing what ideals on the left I agree with. Planet does not, and makes a habit of vaguely stating he isn’t biased by saying he voted for Bush W. I’m sorry, but I can spot a liar, and if he agreed with republicans on anything he would have shown one issue he agreed with them on. He hasn’t.

If he were honest, and did have republican beliefs, he would say those beliefs, rather than stating “I voted Bush!”.

You know it, I know it, we all know it. We ask him for issues he gives us “I voted bush!”. That is not a conservative issue.

And, I used to think Ronald Reagan was all right, until I started to actually do my research and discovered it’s his economics that have placed us squarely where we are today. I couldn’t stand Bill Clinton. I honestly didn’t vote for him. I wrote in Brett Favre one year because I thought all the candidates were lousy. I know, dumb, but it’s the truth. I couldn’t stand the fact the leader of the Free World had such a lack of morals. This is back when I was pretty deep into my Catholicism, a religion I haven’t practiced in probably 15 years now. Very heated, dedicated, but to her what gets to her is that she feels the republicans are controlling her life.

I saw a stastic that for women 38% of them had the highest priority on social issues for voting whereas men it was overwhelmingly the economy. It makes sense that Libby falls into that. It makes sense that I fall into the other side.

It clearly bugged both her and I, but we did hash it all out toward the end as she showed some very good comments and used her research for good.

Hey DS, in several forums including this one, Planet goes off the deep end with his Progressive Liberal views. Bob will respond with facts and sources and Planet never gets it and has no effective rejoinder so it goes down hill from there. Planet ends up calling him a bully and Bob tells him he is a liar so it tends to get ugly from time to time. My own experience with people like Planet is that they do seem to subscribe to revisionist history being taught in our union infested schools instead of real history. I am old enough to have lived through a lot of the crap that has gone on in our government and to hear someone say the opposite of what happened, I want to wring their neck.

I don’t know the revisionist history to which you are suggesting I subscribe. If you have some specific subjects, we can have the discussion. I enjoy having the conversation with you. We both know going in, we’re likely to not see eye-to-eye on the political aspects, but that’s okay, one reason why this country is so great. As far as Bob responding with facts and sources, I have no clue. I simply refuse to read anything that guy has to say. He’s completely lost my respect and from the sounds of it, he’s losing the respect of others who are reading the posts out here.

Nothing Progressive deep end about that discussion, from what I can tell. Can you point it out? I don’t see where we even got all that political, really. I brought up the fact we have a Republican Gov. and the state is slipping a bit (still doing well, mind you) under his administration. That’s actually true and hardly Progressive deep end. I didn’t vote for Gov. Brandstad, but I didn’t vote for the Democratic Party, either (Chet Culver). I actually went with the Iowa Party and Jonathan Narcisse.

          Regarding things getting mean:

If planet agreed to stop being a punk, I might treat him better. In the last few posts when someone told Agent he listened to too much fox news (which Agent didn’t even say who he was quoting) planet replied back with fight the good fight, and repeatedly labels people with fox news himself.

Why do I care about this?

Well, when I have replies, that make sense he ignores them, high and mighty. While he insults others.

When Agent says comments that are borderline, he insults agent back.

The guy is just on my nerves, and I’m trying to denote anything he says, show that his facts are wrong, until either he just realizes he can’t do it anymore, or he realizes he can’t just keep ignoring labeling and picking on republicans.

Also, Agent, I have given some thought to your comment about Iowa’s taxes. You know, we have excellent roads here. We have a great public educational system in my town. We have fantastic libraries, a low crime rate due to excellent police work, snow removal has been outstanding, the parks are well kept and our bike trails go on forever. Our interstate system here was recently greatly improved. We have all new bridges along I-235. I could go on and on. I am more than satisfied with the public services here. I’d spend a little more if we could get better public transportation. It’s money well spent. Thank God Chuck Grassley didn’t get the millions he was asking for to put a rain forest in the middle of Iowa. I think you and I could actually concur on that one.
