What a sad case for all the victims involved. My only comment is, I agree that any facility other than prison would do a better job rehabilitating someone. Prison just makes you worse, but some people need that because no facility will fix them. I don’t know if this will work for this kid, but we can only hope so. Hopefully he feels remorse for those he killed and that are permanently injured. Part of his rehabilitation should be to take care of the paralyzed kid while getting treatment. Of course under supervision. My feeling is he would have rather gone to prison then to see his victim every day.

There for a minute, Texas, you had me thinking that you’d do the right thing.

    Nothing’s changed. Please secede.

Insurance is fun! You won’t find many in Texas that agree with what this judge did.
You are small minded to come to the conclusion that Texans agree with the outcome of this trial.

There’s still the option of an electric fence on the Texico – Oklahoma border. You could bait them with neon lights that say AMMO or GUNS and watch them run into the fence like “skeeter” in a bug zapper.

I went to school with a person like the driver. He had four auto accidents in high school involving alcohol and high speed. Two were paralyzed, two dead, many injured. He got off three times because of his family wealth. The fourth time resulted in a one year prison sentence. He got scared straight, got out, went to college and became a rehab counselor. I don’t know which institution is better either. This is very sad for the victims. It fascinates me though, that Texas will vehemently prosecute any minority who steals a Twinkie from a C Store, but this kid walks.

The Republican Party has recently paid for numerous commercials in which Texas Governor Rick Perry brags about the fairness of the Texas judicial system.

Obviously a State that excuses “affluenza” will in the future provide similar sentencing to any Latino or African American driver committing a similar offense, who argues his impoverished single parent upbringing prevented him/her from demonstrating responsible behavior.

The real question regarding judicial fairness is whther Texas will now
look at all those presently incarcerated and provide retroactive probation to those who can assert affluent or impoverished upbringing.

I missed were they cited a state law that allowed this weasel to escape justise. You left out that if it was a women the Republican Party and Texas would not be so kind. Oh, or if they were disabled. The Boonedoggle is your alledged mind.

And to think, a governor from a foreign country like Texico thought at one time that he would be able to be POTUS. Good thing he got hopped up on Quaaludes on national TV and that showed us what he was all about. I wonder how much mushroom tea he gave all these brilliant CEO’s to entertain the idea of relocating their HQ’s down there. Only in ‘murrica!

    Libby,

Good call, I was actually talking about the night that Perry spoke at the debate and sounded like Elmer Fudd. He had some kind of acid trip, but I think they narrowed it down to Quaaludes. I guess when you have two governors from one state that like their party favors it can be easy to mix them up. Long Live the Alamo!!

If you are rich you can have them at no cost, no penalty for possession with out prescription, and they are encouraged. Poor on the other hand, you they just execute you.
