Ex-LSU Star Moving Concussion Lawsuit to State Court

A lawyer for former LSU star linebacker Mike Anderson says Anderson has dismissed a concussion-related lawsuit filed in federal court against the NCAA and an equipment maker but will refile the suit in state court.

Attorney Patrick Pendley said Anderson voluntarily dismissed the suit, which was filed in March. Pendley told The Advocate questions arose over whether the federal court in Baton Rouge had jurisdiction.

Anderson and his wife sued the NCAA and equipment manufacturer Riddell Inc.

They sought unspecified damages to help cover legal fees and ongoing medical costs.

Anderson, an LSU linebacker from 1967-70, says he suffers memory loss and headaches.

Riddell has declined comment. An NCAA spokesman said in March that the association does not believe the claims “are properly directed to the NCAA.”
