MHBT’s Arthur to Serve as Chair of the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas

The Independent Insurance Agents of Texas (IIAT) elected Pat Arthur, shareholder at MHBT in Dallas, to serve as chairman for 2014-2015 during IIAT’s 117th Annual Conference and Trade Show in San Antonio.

Peter Lauve of CBS Insurance LLP in Abilene was elected to serve as vice chair. Bill Kliewer of BKCW in Killeen is chair-elect.

Arthur has been in the insurance and risk management profession since 1982, with significant expertise and client experience in the hospitality, restaurant, real estate, oil and gas, construction, legal, non-profit and distribution industries.

Arthur has been with MHBT since 1998 and an owner since 2003. Prior experience includes executive positions with two major insurance companies, a major U.S. broker and Merrill Lynch.

Arthur served on the board of directors for the Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas from 2003-2009 and was the 2007-2008 IIAD president.

Lauve is a multi-line agent and partner at CBS Insurance. He holds Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation

Kliewer has more than 35 years of insurance, financial and management experience, and is a managing partner at BKCW. He has served served as president of the IIA of Central Texas, as chairman of the CIGNA for Texas Agents Advisory Council and as a member of the CIGNA National Agency Automation Council.

The new officers’ terms begin Sept. 1.

With 1,700 member agencies in 225 counties, IIAT is the state’s largest association of independent insurance agents and professionals.
