They don’t call DFW wind and hail capital of Texas for nothing. No wonder rates are high and deductibles are high there.

Deductibles are the same as anywhere else in the state, except in tier 2, where they are actually higher for hurricane. I don’t know of any companies that require a higher deductible for home or auto for the DFW area.

I have 1.5% wind/hail on my home in Dallas.

Dallas, many State Farm customers are now seeing 2% deductibles on their Homeowners even in less wind and hail areas.

Not because it’s required as a minimum deductible. They’re choosing to do that because they want to save money on their premiums.

Mark, are you an agent representing several companies? If you were, you would see deductibles all over the map on HO, Commercial property etc. Auto deductibles may be around the same, but property deductibles for Wind & Hail start at 1% and go up to 5% with some carriers. When some customers see their renewal premiums on Auto, they may opt for higher deductibles for Comp & Collision.

Yes, actually I am. And I know what I see. I see most carriers with a 1% minimum statewide, with the exception of coastal areas. Stop challenging me on these posts, I know what I’m talking about and you really don’t have anything to teach me.
