BB&T Insurance Services, based in Raleigh, N.C., announced plans to expand its South Carolina operation by acquiring Carolina Insurance Consultants Inc. of Greenville.
BB&T intends to combine Carolina Insurance Consultants with BB&T-Goldsmith Joyner, its existing Greenville-based insurer, to form one of the largest agencies in the BB&T Insurance Services network. The combined operation would
employ 135 people.
Carolina Insurance Consultants also operates offices in Columbia, Laurens/Clinton, Easley and Belton. The combined agency will be called BB&T-CIC.
The transaction is expected to be completed in November. Terms were not
disclosed.
CIC principal Tommy Parrish will be named area manager of BB&T-CIC, which will continue to operate with its existing employees and maintain its headquarters at 47 Airpark Court.
Carolina Insurance Consultants was founded in 1975 by Al Hueble and Glenn Bridges. Both men hold key management positions in the company and will continue to be actively involved in ongoing operations, Reece said.
Ken Finch, manager of BB&T-Goldsmith Joyner, will be named agency manager in charge of sales for the combined agency.
