The American Insurance Association announced the appointment of Cecil Pearce to the position of regional vice president, southeast region. Pearce will head up AIA’s southeast region overseeing all state government affairs issues in the eight-state region.
He is based in AIA’s Atlanta office, and succeeds Cecil D. “Dick” Dorsey, who is retiring this December after 28 years of service to AIA.
Pearce served six years as president of FIC, the state domestic trade association that represents over 200 insurance companies writing more than $16 billion a year in premium volume. His prior experience includes serving as the director of a program to “depopulate” the Florida Residential Joint Underwriting Association under former Insurance Commissioner Bill Nelson; vice president of the Florida Association of Insurance Agents; and positions with the Independent Insurance Agents of America in Washington, D.C., and the Illinois Independent Insurance Agents.
