Manny Varas, CEO of Professional Casualty Insurance, one of Florida’s largest homeowner insurance providers, was appointed by Republican Congressman Tom Delay of Texas to serve on the Presidential Business Commission.
The Presidential Business Commission (PBC) is a group businessmen and women and professionals who advise the Republican leadership on strategic planning. Varas was selected because of his contribution as Honorary Chairman of the Party’s Business Advisory Council, a position he will continue to hold.
“This is in recognition of extraordinary leadership and contribution to moving the President’s initiative forward and promoting a pro-business agenda in Washington,” Delay, the Majority whip, said in a statement.
Under Varas’ leadership, Professional Casualty has successfully expanded its state-wide business to become the leading flood insurance provider in the U.S. and one of the few companies providing flood insurance coverage in all fifty states. The company celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
Varas’ personal achievements include the 2002 Republican Gold Medal, which was presented to him by Congressman Tom Davis of Virginia. He was also the recipient of the 2001 Republican of the Year Award from the National Republican Congressional Committee, and was named the 2001 Businessman of the Year by The Business Advisory Council.
