The Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina (IIANC) announced it recently added a $10,000 contribution to its existing $50,000 endowed scholarship for business majors at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
“In September of 1997 IIANC established the scholarship with a $50,000 gift,” IIANC president Dal Snipes explained. “We eventually gave every UNC campus $50,000.”
“We are proud to do this for the people of North Carolina. The timing of this gift has special meaning,” Snipes said.
“We know that university endowments are suffering in the current financial environment,” he added. “We thought we would enhance the existing endowment to help get it through difficult times. This is for the future of our state and our economy.”
On hand for the check presentation were IIANC president Dal Snipes of Dunn, Executive vice president Robert F. Bird of Cary, and president-elect Don Evans of Shallotte.
