A father and son died Wednesday morning during a fire at their home in Chilton County, Alabama. Charles Edward Morrow, 28, and his son, Charles Edward Morrow III, 3, were found in the burned home by Maplesville firefighters.
The fire in the one story wood frame home located at 25 County Road 802 in Maplesville was reported at 7:57 a.m. Dec. 10, however, responding firefighters were unable to find the father for almost an hour after arrival on the scene.
Investigators with the Maplesville Fire Department, Chilton County Sheriff’s Office and the Alabama State Fire Marshals Office say it appears the father was attempting to get him and his son out of the burning house before they collapsed.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and no amount of damages to the home has yet been released. Investigators say there were no smoke detectors in the home when the fire occurred.
