The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., an insurance and financial services company, has been selected by the Seminole County (Florida) Regional Chamber of Commerce for its annual listing of local companies that have made a significant capital investment in Seminole County and brought new jobs to the area. The Hartford was among 10 companies honored Thursday at the Seminole County Chamber’s 10th Annual Industry Recognition Luncheon, held at the Orlando Marriot-Lake Mary.
“We are gratified to be chosen for this honor by the Seminole County Chamber,” Mike Wallace, The Hartford’s regional vice president of its new Lake Mary regional office, remarked. “With its business-friendly climate and well-educated labor force, Seminole County has helped The Hartford expand its presence in central Florida and better meet the needs of our customers. Now, with more than 400 employees here in Lake Mary, we look forward to being an integral part of this community for many years to come.”
In February 2004, The Hartford moved its central Florida regional office from Maitland to a new 70,000 square-foot location in Lake Mary, bringing with it 342 jobs that support the company’s property-casualty sales and service, workers’ compensation claims, and bond sales and underwriting operations.
The regional office joined a previously established Hartford office in Lake Mary that employs about 100 people supporting the company’s third-party administrative services and life insurance sales operations.
