Insurance-related complaints didn’t rank high enough to make the list of top-10 complaints of 2004 issued by the Florida Agriculture and Consumer Services (FACS).
The top-10 complaints were: Travel and vacation plans (4,312 complaints), up 45 percent over 2003; “Do Not Call List” (3,673); price-gouging (3,023); motor vehicle repair (2,212); credit/banking (1,019); communications (1,010); business opportunities/franchises (977); health studios (684); telemarketers not involving the “Do Not Call List” (672); and construction (631). The number of complaints also fell, to 23,718 from 31,274 in 2003.
In other news, the Division of Consumer Services, part of FACS, said it recovered $2.8 million in refunds and services for consumers in 2004. That’s a more than a half-million dollars more than 2003.
