An insurance representative checking a Cooper City, Fla. home for roof damage fell and died on Thursday afternoon.

Alon Arad, 56, of Bethesda, Md., had been working as an independent contractor for State Farm Insurance, and had been in South Florida since November, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Arad was about nine feet up, either on a ladder or on the first floor roof of a home at 2721 Montevideo Ave., when he fell. Deputies and paramedics found Arad on the driveway of the home in the Embassy Lakes subdivision and rushed him to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood. He was pronounced dead at 1:02 p.m.

Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives say the tragic fall appears to have been accidental. They are continuing with an investigation.
