The Citizens Property Insurance Corporation board of governors voted unanimously to name Sharon Binnun senior vice president of finance and accounting and chief financial officer.
Binnun was deputy commissioner with the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation for the past two years. She replaces Terri Slack, who resigned from the position at Citizens earlier this month.
Binnun, a Certified Pubic Accountant for more than 20 years, will assume her duties at Citizens Feb. 19.
Binnun has worked as a senior insurance consultant, a deputy director at the former Florida Department of Insurance and as a senior consultant at the accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche in Miami.
She received her master’s degree in professional accounting from the University of Miami in 1986 and her undergraduate degree in accounting from Florida State University in 1984.
