North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Jim Long announced the arrest of Eric Stanley Stokes, charged with one count of obtaining property by false pretense.
Stokes, 43, of 5914 Hidden Meadow Ln., Charlotte was processed at the Mecklenburg County jail and released on a $2,500 secured bond.
Department of Insurance investigators allege that Stokes illegally received workers compensation benefits from UnumProvident Insurance Company.
After recovering from an injury, Stokes allegedly returned to work for a different employer while still receiving workers comp benefits under his previous employer. Officials say he received some $3,000 in benefits.
