Two Cabell County, W. Va., men who were previously arrested on multiple felony charges including insurance fraud, third degree arson, conspiracy, and burning insured property, pleaded guilty on Oct. 30 in Wayne County Magistrate Court.
W. Va. State Police arrested Richard E. Sturgill, 29, and Jeffery Maynard, 43, both of Huntington, W. Va., in Wayne County on July 10. The two men conspired to burn Sturgill’s vehicle on March 18 and then filed a false insurance claim for the loss. Both were sentenced to serve six months in jail. The sentence was then suspended and both were placed on probation for one year and ordered to pay all court costs.
