North Carolina officials arrested a Newport, N.C. woman and charged her with one count of embezzlement by an insurance agent, according to Insurance Commissioner Jim Long.
Heather Dawn Cagle, 34, who worked as an agent for Chalk & Gibbs insurance agency in Morehead City, N.C., allegedly embezzled nearly $16,000 in insurance premiums paid by clients, Long reported.
The clients’ insurance premiums were allegedly left unpaid, and they were at risk of losing their coverage, Long said.
Cagle surrendered her agent’s license to Department of Insurance officials.
