The South Carolina Safe Home Hurricane Damage Mitigation Program has a new Web site.
The new site, www.scsafehome.sc.gov, offers information about the damage mitigation grant program as well as information about the various retrofit measures homeowners can take to make their homes stronger against the damaging winds associated with hurricanes and severe storms.
New features to the Web site include information such as the mitigation tip of the day, links to do-it-yourself retrofits, sponsorship information and information about coastal property insurance.
Scott Richardson, director of the South Carolina Department of Insurance said the program to date has awarded more than 600 grants totaling approximately $3 million to homeowners in areas vulnerable to high winds associated with hurricanes.
