The insurance companies are on a serious propaganda mission. PIP fraud, while it does exist, is a tiny percent of the total amount of legitimate PIP claims; far less than medicare fraud. These insurance companies continue making record profits and offering less and less coverage, while charging more and more. The PIP benefit has remained the same $10,000 for decades, yet the cost of care, cost of living, cost of everything has significantly gone up. Oh, and of course, the insureds payment to the insurance compnaies for the same $10,000 has gone up.

Rick Scott, and the entire Tea Party in Tallahassee are buddies with the insurance companies and together they do not have the best interests of the people of Florida in mind. Here’s an idea, cap what they insurance companies can charge, cap their profits and require a full accounting if they want to sell policies in this state.

Are you kidding me Vince…PIP fraud is rampant in South Florida and other pockets throughout the state. I get at least 1 person a day telling me they want this and that coverage and they want to pay with a check the full amount. I am an insurance agent if you havent guessed by now. I have seen firsthand what the “clinics” have done to the insurance models. Think about how many individuals doing fraud at $10000 a person to throw off the statistics completely. Meanwhile, there are those having legitimate claims at the same time. What rock have you been hiding under for the last 4 years!! Its very simple; allow PIP to continue but only for emergency ER type treatment and any therapies performed by a state licensed clinic where a doctor or nurse must supervise full time and allow no outsourcing of therapy. Being that Dade County is the tail that wags Florida this most likely will never happen due to the highest concentration of attorneys within Miami’s borders. Media wants no part of stopping it because aside from making for good news fodder a large segment of ad revenue lost from Car Dealers has been quickly replaced by 411-PAIN style advertising. The relationship between insurance industry, those trying to defraud it, and those who have real and honest situations has become an adverserial symbiosis. One needs the other to survive but is in constant confict and disharmony. In one corner for example some consumers(at the direction of unscrupulous insurance adjustors) have taken advantage of the fact you get your entire tile floor replaced if one is broken and a replacement cant be found to insurance companies limiting what they will pay for things like flooring or excluding the coverage altogether. Its a conspiracy alright…just not the one your thinking of…
