FEMA Reports $18.6 Million in Disaster Aid to Kentucky

More than $18.6 million in federal disaster assistance has been approved for Kentucky residents who went through the tornadoes and severe storms of late February and early March.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency says around 5,300 people from 21 counties have contacted the agency for help or information regarding disaster assistance.

More than $8.7 million has been approved for needs such as housing, medical care and lost personal items. The Small Business Administration has approved more than $9.9 million in low-interest disaster loans for homeowners, renters and businesses.

The deadline to register for federal disaster assistance is May 7. To register, call (800) 621-FEMA (3362) or visit http://www.DisasterAssistance.gov online or http://m.fema.gov using a tablet or smartphone.
