Great Job! Governor Scott for saving the State from this medicaid budget explosion in the future. Come to Florida if you like good weather, low property taxes, no income taxes and a lower cost of living because it is a right to work state.

The Florida Chamber of Commerce could not do better. Thank you Gov Scott!

Yes, it is a great state. And I am certainly not interested in any more of my tax dollars going toward health care for people that don’t work, didn’t plan ahead, and just don’t deserve it. Heck, I’ll even go one step further: Give me the choice to “opt out” of Social Security taxes. It’s not likely that I’ll reap the benefits of Social Security. Why do we offer Social Security anyway? People that are 65 had years to plan for their retirement. Why would the Federal Gov’t need to pay them to quit working?

A right to work for less state, indeed. The state I live in does the same. Don’t worry, Florida. You can vote that joke of a governor out of there and get the plan fully implemented once you do. There’s still hope.

You did see this comment in the article –

Scott claims Medicaid has been growing in Florida at three-and-half times the state’s general revenue. He calls the law the “biggest job killer ever” and says Floridians cannot afford the $1.9 billion dollar increase he believes the law will cost.

Unlike the Federal Gov. The States can not print money it does not have.

I am glad this states could opt out if they chose too. This whole thing anyway is going to cost more money that is for certain. Can’t expect to add more people and cost remain the same.

The number of mean spirited people never ceases to amaze. If the feds are paying 100% for the next three years, and 90% after that, will someone explain how that is costing Florida money? The Gov.
is just doing the standard republican go along dance and cares not for the less fortunate. Also, I need an explanation as to how that is a job killer. Seems to me if a lot of people are getting health care and feeling better, they will be in a decent position to get out there and look for work, which WILL be coming as the rececession numbers improve. Have some faith people.

The feds are paying 100% of the Medicaid expansion for the next 3 years, and 90% after that. The recession numbers are improving, slowly it’s true, but improving. Seems to me a healthier work force would be an asset for the state. Playing politics with peoples health is just not the American way. We are bigger than that.

Remember all this hardnosed-ness the next time a hurricane wrecks the smelly swamp you call home and FEMA and the rest of us bail you out again…

Stop the crap and put that criminal in jail where he belongs instead of in office.

He may be a criminal, but he’s our criminal. Swamp? I only have standing water in my yard for half of the year. That’s not so bad.
