Terrible Insurance Company DO NOT DO WITH THEM. My house was flooded and my deductible was $2500, they estimated at $2468
This is $33 short of the full amount, They told me that it was Wear & Tear. Why am I going to give $2500 to get $2500 back?, I just wanted my home fixed, but now I have to do it myself out of pocket. because they are not counting one of the rooms as being part of the flooding.

What part of flooding do these crooks not understand.
Heritage Insurance in St Petersburg Florida is TERRIBLE, save yourself headache and go with Triple AAA, they know customer service. I will not be continuing with Heritage insurance, instead of helping the customer they interrogate you. I will be filing a formal complain with the BBB.

Let’s just hope this time that working class people get out and vote and Scott is out in 2014. When even the Sheriff’s Department warned that he’s a crook and not to vote for him and he gets in I have my doubts. Get off the couch!

Yes, looks like another shady deal done by Rick Scott.

Heritage has the following strikes Against it in my simple analysis and opinion:
    1. Donated $100,000 to a committee under the control of Rick Scott.
    2. Citizens paid $52M to Heritage to take over their policies.
    3. It is a start up in the Florida Home Insurance Market.
    4. Their web site does not indicate they are a start up in this market. It gives no relevant data on the company, ie: How many employees, Management salaries & bonus packages.
5; Mention many famous re-insurers and their capital, but fails to indicate how much they re-inusre with each of the these re-insurers.
6: If Heritage can use these re-insurers why can’t Citizens?

So I’m sticking with Citizens even though I’ll pay more. More important I will be voting against Gov Rick Scott in the next elections. His past history as a CEO of a Health Insurance Company is highly suspect and now the shenanigans with Heritage – Citizens should disqualify him. But he seems to be immune to prosecution but not to the ballot.

Once again in late 2014 Citizens tried a default rollover to Heritage. I opted out by wring written reply to both Citizens & Heritage and phoning my Citizens agent. Funny got my Citizens policy in the mail, followed by Heritage and another insurance Co I care to forget about. Turns out Heritage is cheapest at about $2800, then Heritage at $3100 followed by the 3rd at $ 4100. Went to log into my existing Citizens account and found out that my policy had new Number, when trying to add the new policy I couldn’t. This due to the Phone No and my email address being incorrect, after first phoning my agent, (agent still got my email address incorrect) and finally phoning the Citizens it was corrected I gained access to the new policy so I can pay online in a week or two. BTW: Citizens help line person was very quick and efficient. So check all this out ASAP so not to be caught out a the last minute.

Here we go again. Sept 2015 Citizens trying to pass me onto another fly by night Insurance company. Opted out by emailing the new company their opt out form and returning signed the opt out form to my Citizens agent. Suppose we will go through this again next February.

My husband and I signed and opt out form and our agent faxed it and scanned it to Heritage. We got confirmation plus our agent spoke to someone and said it will be opted. Well few months we received another letter so called our agent and they confirmed once again it will be opt out. Well few months later we received a notice of assumption and non renewal from Citizens along with a notice of assumption from Heritage and a packet arrived with the policy from Heritage. Talk about an being outraged we will be calling a lawyer and going to see our agent first thing tomorrow morning. I really think it is awful that these sneaky tactics are a disgrace to our rights. We will not settle for this and will follow through. Very angry about greedy politics!!!!

I confirmed Heritage is in fact higher than Citizens by the allowed 15% so I cancelled my policy with them and went with People’s Trust. i saved $2100 NOT going with Heritage and was able to get my Pool enclosure covered for a 1 time replacement. Better coverage for less through Peoples Trust. Screw Heritage ripoff.

I switched to Peoples Trust in DEC 2013 from Citizens and it was $1000 cheaper per year, $1570 insgtead of $2600 BUT
Now it is being CANCELLED and I am having to look for insurance again
PEOPLES TRUST IS NOT A COMPANY TO DO BUSINESS WITH
IF YOU BOUGHT STRAIGHT FROM THEM YOU POLICY IS BEING CANCELLED
IF YOU BOUGHT FROM A AGENT THEY HAVE TO HONOR IT FOR THE YEAR BUT YOU WILL NOT BE RENEWED
THEY (PEOPLES TRUST) DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO RE-INSURE THOSE IT TOOK PREMIUMS FROM
Just got quote from Heritage. Now it’s $2035/yr with them. Still cheaper than Citizens but after reading this, is this a FU-KED UP company like People’s Trust?
I will just not have insurance, fu-k the bank, who cares.
Every notice how Rick Scott looks like Voldemort from the Harry Potter movies? You can see his likeness in Orlando at Universal Studios Harry Potter rides….hahahaha

Heritage is also mis-interpreting the 1802 form. I had a client that I was not able to view the roof to wall connection due to the location of the attic access (The house was built in 1978 so it more than likely was a Toe Nail designation). She had the SWR (Secondary Water Resistance) but due to the fact a photo could not determine the connection (same as toe nail designation) No credit was given for the SWR. Also, all new impact windows were replaced. The impact rating was appropriate for the area (Bayonet Point), but they wouldn’t give that credit due to the fact they were not to the Miami Dade Requirements. This insurance company needs to attend some wind mitigation classes like the inspectors attend as they don’t have a clue what they are looking at.

What do we do? My home after purchasing it in Feb 2013 FEMA zoned it a flood risk a year later so my insurance was increased to 20% of my mortgage!! $130 more a month! I’m mad at my real estate agent for not warning me & I could of chosen a house 2 blocks away that was not in the new flood zone but was $20k more but I wanted to live within my means…. Now I’m stuck in this house that’s $130 more a month & I can never resell it because the next owners will have to pay 100% more than my 20% so I’m stuck unless something is done or I win the lotto. I’m not sure what are the better odds, me winning the lotto or something to be done about Heritage, FEMA, or the other crooks…? I should of stayed renting …. Oh and PS, I live on the highest part of my development to where my son & neighborhood kids come to my house so they can ride skateboards etc down the hill. Sorry for punctuation mistakes or run on sentences… Just p/o’d Russo……

Anything that a criminally indicted governor is endorsing must be suspect as much as the failed People’s Trust.

My paperwork from Heritage did not even have the signature of the owner. How bad is this company if the CEO is ashamed to have his name associated with it’s offering?

We have been with Citizen for two years. Yesterday, I found out that our homeowner’s insurance policy had been rolled over to Heritage, shortly after Citizen increased our Premium. All of that was done without our authorization. This shady practice, “blessed” by our “glorious and fearless” leader is outrageous. I am not letting this one go away. I will fight for a consumer to have some protection against such a despicable under the table deals. SHAME ON YOU!!!!

I just spent two months trying to undo the take out from Citizens to Heritage. Heritage never provided me an opt out. Only a verbal quote in Nov. 2014 of an annual premium of $630.00. When I received my renewal premium in Apr. 2015, the invoice was for $1215.00. It’s taken my two months, countless hours and cost me an additional $100.00 for another 4point inspection to get back with Citizens, where I just paid my annual homeowners policy of $604.00 for the exact insurance Heritage tried to extort $1215.00 from me. They do not respond to emails, phone calls and continue to bill me for the policy I canceled via email as per their customer service department on April 14, 2015. Today, June 2, 2015 I filed a complaint with the Florida Insurance Commissioners office.

That’s exactly what happened to me a couple of years ago. I accepted the assumption (not Heritage), and they jacked up my premium to $1,500. It was a headache getting back on to a Citizens policy. Never again!

I just today 11/2/2015 received a notice of assumption and non-renewal from Heritage Property & Casualty advising me of their plan to provide personal residential multiperil coverage of my property which is currently being covered by Citizens. The letter stated I had received a prior notice with an opt out form informing me they would assume on October 27, 2015 if they did not receive the opt out form back. I never received such a letter and certainly no opt out form. I am no stranger to such letters as I have received several in the past and have always opted out either the very day of receipt of the letter or the next day. The only other company that did this to me was Safepoint Insurance and I had to write a letter and find an opt out form online to fax back to them TWICE. These Takeout Companies have not been in business very long and in my opinion not very viable or trustworthy for me to trust them to insure my property. I know the chances being taken to stay with Citizens could be great but to be manipulated and harassed over my property is greater, and give them the pleasure of my money for premiums too. I am sick to death of receiving all these notice of assumptions by all those fly by night companies.. JUST TELL THEM TO STOP!!! We are pretty well informed people these days and if we want different home insurance we can search around and find it. Now I have to find their opt out form online and send it back before November 26,2015 for a reprive of a few months until someone decides to do it again. Believe me I am and have been looking for affordable insurance for a while now but would like a trustworthy, reliable company. I had State Farm before they canceled me and forced me to Citizens, its not easy being a homeowner in Florida. Sorry to ramble on but I’m so disgusted with the system.

The debacle of Heritage assuming policies has cost me dearly. Like many of you above, I was forced into this policy. I remember notifying citizen and their telling me it was a “fait accomplis”. So, when my house burned down on December 14, 2013, I didn’t even know who my insurance company was. I had to wait until that Monday to call my mortgage company to get the name heritage.
We have been living out of our home for two years and three months. We are in a legal battle with Heritage who is using pretext and lies not to pay the policy. My three children are suffering. In all this, I feel so powerless. We are the little people who suffer when our government sleeps with flee-infested companies.
I would love to organize some kind of protest or bring some media spot-light to this pillage. If there is a lawsuit, I want to join too. I know two other neighbors down here in Homestead who are interested as well. We need to bring a class action lawsuit.

If they’re suing I want in. My insurance nearly doubled because of Heritage. They had to do an additional inspection which decided the roof was no longer safe – the same roof that Citizens had inspected. I tried to go back to Citizens or anywhere else and was forced to remain with Heritage. Looks like the crime and corruption heritage of South Florida from the mafia days has no spread across the State. Tax dollars at work.

File a complaint with OIR and division of insurance also. As per it’s agreement with Citizens, I don’t think it can raise your premium for three years. You can get a copy of that online or from Citizens. I will be posting my blog address shortly where I also post that document for all victims of Heritage/Citizen.
