As a FL homeowner I can only dream of a premium under $2200 for non-sinkhole coverage – east coast of central FL, 10mis from ocean and $2200 makes agents laugh. Sinkhole coverage? I’m looking at quotes from $2400 w/ no sinkhole and bare bones everything else to $3800 w/ sinkhole and a 10% ded. The FL Legislature has made insurance in FL a nightmare.

Well, if you mean by artificially surpressing rates legislators have made insurance a nightmare. If the insurance company loses too much money they will either exit the market or go into receivorship. Either way, you lose.
