The report should be more descriptive or we should start electing politicians who can prove they have a functioning brain.
You don’t make up tens of billions of disaster losses in one year or even 5 years, especially when the ex-governor was limiting premium increases for votes.

I have a friend who wants me to move to Homestead with her, but I see $2,000 for insurance on a small, 800 sq ft home with no garage, and another almost the same for wind damage insurance. What has happened to this state, they still haven’t repaired that area from the last one, they just keep collecting and increasing the rates, and tell you that you have to carry it all. I pay a fraction of that $68 dollars a month, and that includes wind and flood, and mold damage, and we just lost a town to a tornado a couple of years ago, just 8 miles away. Florida people need to stand up and demand the state either kicks out any insurance company that doesn’t bring the rates inline, and pay the 69 percent of claims they denied, or self insure through a realistic state insurance plan and cut the insurance companies out entirely, and make them return the excess money they took to the state to use as funding. 6 to 8 hundred dollars per quarter for complete insurance is grounds for a revolution folks, wake up.

When I bought my home, 10 miles inland from the Gulf, in Naples, FL, I was quoted $1500.00, but found out I wasn’t covered for practically anything, including replacement of the home itself, let alone hurricane or flood coverage. I have since been told that $11,000.00, yes, Eleven THOUSAND dollars will be the best that a reputable company will charge. Cheap insurance is just that. And, worthless to cover the biggest investment you may make.

The reason for higher premium in Florida is the constant claims about water damage, many insure do not maintain up to date their homes , therefore they shift the responsibility of repair to the insuance company , fo rmore details contact us at https://floridainsurance.ws/personal-insurance/homeowners-insurance-florida/
