I’m a victim of the negligence of the actions of at least two employees at my workplace in Florida, causing me to become permanently handicapped and only marginally able to work. My employer fired me when I became unable to work (yes, it’s legal).

I am also a victim, a second time, of Florida Workers’ “Compensation” laws, which provide almost nothing to me now, over and beyond basic management of my condition. WC rates for companies in Florida when down in the last year or so, probably in part because the Florida Republicans twice CUT benefits to workplace-injured workers in the 2000-10 period.

That’s just the tip of the iceberg of what I could tell about the injustice of Florida WC laws.

So, I say to you, Mr. Kanauph, let the costs of WC insurance skyrocket in Florida, if necessary, rather than abuse Florida workers with the current laws. Maybe when that happens, companies in Florida will quit allowing their unsafe workplaces to exist.

Funny, because the biggest Star Wars fans I know are morbidly obese and really bad at their jobs yet think they are good at them and huge
