As strong winds fuel intense flames, many San Diego area homes remain threatened by a fast moving brushfire that hit about 60 miles north of San Diego Feb. 10. Dozens of homes have been damaged or destroyed, with only five percent of the fire contained as of Feb. 11.
According to the Insurance Information Network of California, the standard homeowners’ policy does cover damage caused by fires and high winds. The IINC is recommending that homeowners affected by the fires notify their insurers promptly to begin the process of filing claims.
