An El Dorado Hills, Calif. resident was arrested as a result of an investigation by the California Department of Insurance Criminal Investigations Branch’s Fraud Division.
Charles David Littlejohn, 46, AKA Charles Brewer, was arrested at his El Dorado Hills home on an outstanding warrant. Littlejohn is charged with Mail Fraud and Making False Statements in a Loan Application. The case is being prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office in Sacramento.
According to investigators, Littlejohn received workers’ compensation benefits resulting from a back injury, while at the same time receiving income from another employer. Investigators also uncovered additional evidence that Littlejohn was allegedly involved in fraudulent schemes where he provided false financial information to a mortgage lender and a credit union for the purpose of gaining money he would not otherwise be entitled to.
Losses amount to $25,060 in the workers’ comp case, $292,824 in the bank fraud to the mortgage lender case, and $9,769 in the bank fraud to the credit union case.
