After almost a decade of servicing the general liability/property wholesale needs of California’s central coast from his desk at R.E. Chaix & Associates’ senior vice president Steve Wessel is retiring.
“It was a tough decision to make, but I’m going to start the new year with a clean slate – at home,” explained Wessel.
According to Roger Chaix, president of R.E. Chaix & Associates, “We all wish Steve the best in this new endeavor and hope that eventually we’ll all be following in his footsteps – retirement wise, that is.”
Wessel began his 32 year insurance career at Allstate in the commercial lines department in the early 70s. From there he moved to Unigard as underwriter and eventually administration manager. His introduction to reinsurance was forged at Bayside Management Company as an intermediary which helped his career along when he then joined CNA. Prior to joining R.E.Chaix, Wessel was branch manager at the Orange County Hull & Co. offices.
He leaves his career at Chaix as senior vice president and has spent the last several months working closely with his replacement, Joe Weckerle, Jr. Maris Vega will remain as technical assistant for Wessel’s book of business.
Chaix & Associates recently relocated to 41 Corporate Park, Suite 310, Irvine, Calif. 92606. Offices also located in Napa, Calif. For more information, visit www.rechaixinsurance.com.
