R. Kevin Clinton, president of American Physicians Capital Inc., told leaders of the New Mexico Medical Society that medical malpractice insurance premiums have increased an average 9.8 percent statewide this year.

Malpractice rates went up 14 percent last year and 35 percent in 2002, Clinton said. American Physicians Capital insures most doctors in New Mexico.
