Calif. Governor Appoints Berte to CalPERS Board

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger announced that Marjorie Berte, 52, of San Francisco, has been appointed to the Public Employees’ Retirement System Board, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Berte is currently vice president of the California State Automobile Association. She will serve a four-year term on the 13-member CalPERS board of directors, effective next month.

She served as director of the Department of Consumer Affairs from 1995 to 1998. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem.

Berte is a Republican, and the wife of former IBA West CEO Jerry O’Kane.
