The Risk and Insurance Management Society Inc. (RIMS) elected Ellen Vinck, as president of the Society at the House of Delegates meeting Sunday, April 17. Her term begins May 1, 2004 and is a one-year position.
Vinck has served on the board of directors of the San Diego Chapter of RIMS for 14 years, including chapter president in 1996, and was awarded their first Risk Manager of the Year award, also in 1996.
Vinck has served RIMS in a number of capacities since 1997. She was a member of the Strategic Planning Task Force (1997-1998, 2001-2002); Chair, Communications Committee (1999-2002); Member, Board of Directors (2000-2002); vice president, Finance and Treasurer (2002-2003); vice president, Conference (2003-2004); and is currently first vice president (2004-2005). Vinck will serve as RIMS Ppesident for 2005-2006.
She is the vice president of risk management, benefits and safety for United States Marine Repair Inc., the corporate entity for a family of shipyards located on the Atlantic and Pacific Coasts and Hawaii. Vinck joined Southwest Marine Inc. in San Diego in 1980 as the assistant to the treasurer and was promoted to benefits manager in 1984.
