The Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of Orange County is offering a three-hour continuing education seminar, “Miscellaneous Professional Liability” Course #135718/Provider #20384, for IIAB-OC members.Yates & Associates Insurance Services, in association with Shand Morahan & Co., the underwriting manager for Markel American and Evanston Insurance Companies, is sponsoring the course.
According to IIAB-OC, many occupations and businesses are regarded as professional with special skills and knowledge. Because general liability policies exclude professional liability, this could cause a potentially expensive loss exposure for customers and a potential E&O situation.
Attendees of the course will earn 3 CE credits and will learn: Which occupations are considered MPL; the legal foundation that drives the need; how to prepare a submission, then interpret the quote for clients; two situations in which coverage gaps can exist between the CGL & MPL, which could create an E&O situation; and how to locate markets and work with underwriters & intermediaries to place MPL coverages.
The course will be held on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, at the Tustin Banquet Center, 721 W. First Street, Tustin, CA 92780. Phone: (714) 669-0506.
Thecourse is free to members, or $35 for non-members. To register or for more information, call (714) 921-6441.
