Four people were killed Tuesday morning when a small airplane skidded off the end of the runway at the McClellan-Palomar Airport near San Diego.
The plane took off in Hailey, Idaho, near Sun Valley, and crashed around 6:40 a.m. when it went off the runway at Palomar Oaks Way and Dryden Place, authorities said.
All four people onboard the plane were killed, according to Mike Fergus, a spokesman with the Federal Aviation Administration. Firefighters put out the blaze a short time later.
The airport was closed, and it’s not known when it will be reopened.
