Rusty Young of Lovestad-Worthington in Bothell, Wash., has died. Friends say Rusty was playing golf with his son, Dean, at Borrego Springs last Friday when he suffered a heart attack.
“I first met Rusty in Hawaii in 1972 and have had the pleasure of crossing paths with him ever since,” recalls Dale Newell, IBA West Pacific Chapter executive director. “Rusty was a long time supporter of IBA West and its predecessor organizations and has been an active participant in the government affairs of the association for many years.”
Although retired for several years, Rusty maintained a presence in the business, keeping an office at Lovestad-Worthington and continuing to be an active contributor to the efforts of brokers and agents in the IBA West Pacific Northwest Chapter said Newell.
“Rusty served on the IBA West Service Corp board and was a great contributor to the association,” said Clark Payan, IBA West CEO. “He understood the business and truly cared about others. He will be missed.”
Family members are honoring Rusty’s request not to hold a funeral or memorial service. They are planning to set up a memorial fund or charitable donation in his honor.
